“DREAM, DEEJAY, AND DOO WOP!”

An interesting and fun memoir of a young man following his dream and love of music into a successful and fulfilling career in radio. With his engaging personality and humor, he soon became a top deejay and Baltimore favorite during the time of Doo Wop and Top 40 AM radio. His story also brings a nostalgic look and longing for the things that matter most...family, love, marriage, hometown roots, and enduring friendships.

Though he is talking about his life in radio [in Baltimore] the events he deals with could be any station in the country during the evolving industry of radio. Rothfuss tells his life story in an easy style … Readers from all across the nation will be able to relate to "Alias Emperor Rodgers" as they reminisce of the times and stations they had growing up.

“What a fun and informative read.”

I got your book on Kindle yesterday and finished it today. What a fun and informative read. I was a teenager back in the '60s and your job seemed like the best in the world, playing "our music." What could be better? Thanks for all the wonderful memories, Paul, and thanks for sharing the inside story in your book

“A great look back at the 50's and 60's in the wacky world of radio.”

What a GREAT read! ANYONE who listened to their hometown station will enjoy this look "behind the scenes." Paul's book highlights the time when Top 40 AM radio ruled and it seemed every kid had a transistor radio next to their ear or hidden under their pillow at night to hear the hottest new songs.

“A fascinating read for "Rock n Roll" radio fans”

A memory jogger. Growing up listening to Top 40 radio was an obsession. A lifestyle. Whether you lived in Baltimore or not, if Top 40 was a part of your life, this is a must read. [Paul’s] love for the music he played over the airwaves and his relationship he had with his listening audience, brought him to be an Icon of the industry.

“Enjoyed the memories”

Enjoyed the memories! As teenagers in 1956-58 Lancaster County we all listened to WSBA. It was great living through that time, and it is fun to relive that time reading Paul's book.

“Keep the garbage can covered, [etc.]”

I grew up in the Baltimore area and listened to Paul Rogers on WCAO radio. He was always one of my favorites … I still have my Emperor Rodgers card. And I’ve always remembered his sign off, “keep the garbage can covered, the dog tied tightly, and the baby fed.”

“Top-40 radio at it's exciting best”

If a transistor radio tuned to your favorite top-40 station was your constant companion in the 60s, you'll enjoy 'Alias Emperor Rodgers'. …

Most of us listen to our favorite radio Dj's and enjoy their performances. But we seldom think of what goes on behind the scenes. Paul lets you in on these aspects of radio as well as what you hear on the air. … But mostly, Paul tells of the deep and abiding connections listeners made in those days with their favorite radio stations.

You certainly don't have to be from Baltimore to enjoy his story. I highly recommend Alias Emperor Rodgers.

What a fantastic walk down memory lane reading Paul's book, "Alias Emperor Rodgers" has been for me. This is a well written and fun to read book. Paul is a very bright and witty guy with a great radio voice as you can tell by accessing the barcode squares [QR Codes], printed in the book. The on air antics that Paul describes are hilarious and will have you laughing to yourself throughout the book. I highly recommend this book.
